Planted & Rooted

Scripture:
Psalm 1:1-3
Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he [b]meditates day and night.
3 He shall be like a tree
Planted by the [c]rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper.
"Planted & Rooted"
If you want to find life, Jesus said you must lose it, you must lose step with the world, you must choose to walk with God. That is what the Psalmist is getting across: that life with Christ starts with walking with Him, delighting in Him, His word, His way, His direction. I love this word delight (meaning to find pleasure, happiness, and satisfaction in God’s presence, Word, and ways). Then he goes on to tell us the result of a life committed to the Lord, that it will bear fruit in season, that the troubles of life will not shake them, that all they do will prosper.
Path Avoided (v. 1): The righteous do not walk in step with the wicked, stand in the way that sinners take, or sit in the company of mockers.
Delight Found (v. 2): Their joy is in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night.
Life (v. 3): They are like a tree planted by water, yielding fruit in season, with leaves that do not wither, and prosperity in their actions.
Be planted and rooted in the Lord, don't allow your life to look like the world, pursue the Lord, delight in Him, build your life on His way, His wisdom, His direction, and you will be blessed, you will be connected to the source, and the troubles of the world will not move you.
Lord, O' that we would be planted and rooted in you, that our lives would be fully devoted to your way, your wisdom, your direction, that above all we would be committed to our walk with you, that all that we do, all that we plan, all that we possess would be blessed because of your presence. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen!
