In His Presence

by Pastor Ken

In His Presence

I experience the fullness of the life intended for me when I seek to have God's presence in all that I do.  When my life is spent in the Lord's presence, where He is there is Joy and Peace and Power and Strength, Wisdom and Knowledge.

Moses said: "If your presence doesn't go with us Lord then we don't want to go"

This is because he understood that life is meant to be lived with the Lord.

What areas of your life have you left the Lord behind, have you not taken the Lord into, are you seeking, desiring God's presence in every area of your life.   If so are you experiencing the blessings that brings?

Lord I would ask that you be with me wherever I go, that your presence would be with me, that I would not go, where you would not have me go, that I would be changed by your presence, that it would shape my travels, my thoughts and my destinations. Amen!

12 Now it was told King David, saying, “The Lord has blessed the house of Obed-Edom and all that belongs to him, because of the ark of God.” (Gen. 30:27; 39:5) So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-Edom to the City of David with gladness. 2 Samuel 6:12

Recipe for Mighty Prayer

by Pastor Ken

The Lord is near to all who call upon Him,
To all who call upon Him in truth.
19 He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him;
He also will hear their cry and save them.
20 The Lord preserves all who love Him,

~Psalm 145:18-20

We all want to be heard by the Lord, especially in times of trouble or need.   We all want the Lord to come to our rescue, to provide for us in time of need.   And here in Psalm 145 we find a recipe for mighty prayer, listen to what the psalmist says:

"The Lord is near to all who call upon Him"

Wow that is great, thats exactly what I need to know when I am in times of need, I need to know God is near me.   This alone brings strength into my life, however lets read on, because in the Bible whenever there is a promise there is a premise and this verse is no different, the Psalmist goes on to give us the premise:

"To all who call upon Him in truth."

First we must understand that this means to call upon the Lord in faith, believing He can do it, second it is calling on the Lord in a right heart.  God is Holy and that being said we need to come to Him with a right heart and the Bible says that He will hear from heaven and aswer us.   When we position ourselves toward God, when we "seek Him with our whole heart" again the Bible says we will find Him.

He goes on to reitterate the point in the next verse:

"He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him;"

Wow, this is even bigger, now the Psalmist goes on to say that God will fullfil our desires.    How can this be, my desires can be off at times, I could be desiring the wrong things; well that's not what it says, what it does say is when my desires line up with God's plan then He will fullfil them.   See whenever the Bible talks about the fear of the Lord, it is talking about this reverence toward the Lord, this agape type love that leads us to not want to dissapoint God or let Him down, so our behavior starts to line up with His plan for us, why, because we disire His approval.

The Psalmist closes with this:

"The Lord preserves all who love Him,"

My relationship with the Lord brings mighty things into my life.   He protects, He provides, He guides and He rescues me... and all I need to do is respond to Him in love and allow that love to transform my life.

 James 5:16b
"The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective."

Lord help my prayers always be effective and my heart always be near.
Amen!

From King to Crucification

by Pastor Ken

Hosanna

Palm Sunday, a day you and I remember "Christ's Triumphant Entry" just a week before He would be betrayed, wrongfully accused and handed over to be beaten and crucified.

How is it we can forget so quickly?

How is it that they lost sight of Jesus, they shouted "Hosanna!" praise to their Lord, their King of Kings, Lord of Lords, but one week later they would forget who He is, they would forget the miracles, the mercy, the grace, the magnificence of the Christ?

They may have forgotten, but Jesus would not forget, His plan was bigger than their/our vision, He always knew He would be the sacrifice for many, that He way pay the ultimate price that would bring freedom for all men.

We still have a reason to shout: HOSANNA! HOSANNA!

The next day a great multitude that had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, 13 took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, and cried out:

“Hosanna!

Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’
The King of Israel!”

Then Jesus, when He had found a young donkey, sat on it; as it is written:
15 Fear not, daughter of Zion;
Behold, your King is coming,
Sitting on a donkey’s colt.”

~John 12:12-15

Kairos Moments

by Pastor Ken

This past week I was reminded how we operate our lives in chronos time, but we live for kairos moments.

I think Isaiah nails it in Isaiah 52:7 he says "beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news"
Let me just remind you that it takes work, it takes courage and it takes determination to get to the top of a mountain.

Great life is like that, its all this effort, all this determination, all this courage poured out toward this common goal we have with God. To reach others, sometimes we miss the point, but its then that we reach the mountain top, we have our Kairos Moment and God is glorified in it, it is then that we remember why we labor, we remember our purpose is greater than any one click of time, but rather it is summed up in the Kairos Moments.

If you have become weary in your well doing, be encouraged that in due time you will experience your moment, the hard work will bring fruit, you will have your Kairos Moment.

How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, "Your God reigns!" Isaiah 52.7

For Those In A Struggle Today

by Pastor Ken

Beauty For Ashes

Often in the worst of times we feel the most alone, we could be surrounded by friends and family and still feel so alone. This is because our circumstance have distracted us from our source of strength, we have become overwhelmed by our giant rather than strengthened by the size of our God.

Today I want you to know, you are not alone in your situation, and that God understands your distress, your sorrow (Isaiah 53:3,) because He understands it He can comfort you in it, David reminds us that God is close to the brokenhearted and that He saves us in our circumstance.

Know this, when no one can, God can strengthen you, He can heal the brokenness of your heart. He can make beauty from the ashes.

The Lord wants you to know that "Nothing" can separate you from the Love He has for you (Romans 8:38,) and if nothing can separate you from that love, then nothing can cause Him to leave you in your time of need.

On the other side of this situation are people who will need your victory song, how you go through, how you overcome, they will need to know the nearness of your God during your greatest struggle.

I "believe" that God even in the worst of my times here on earth has been working even the those things out in the end for my good. Though He did not create the bad things He has the ability to turn them for my Good. (Genesis 50:20) Like Joseph in the end God will work out my struggles, my difficulties, my circumstances for good.

I pray today that you work a healing work in the lives of those that are suffering, that are broken, one that mends their brokenness, one that restores their joy, their hope and that you would bring peace amidst their storm. In Jesus Name Amen!

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deut 31:6
